Matthew Cuthbert et sa s ur Marilla ont décidé d adopter un enfant pour les aider aux travaux de la ferme. Or, au lieu du garçon attendu, une surprise les attend à la gare : une fougueuse jeune fille ! L affection des Cuthbert pour la brillante et expressive Anne grandit rapidement, et ils décident de la garder avec eux. Une fois installée aux Pignons verts, la rouquine se fait plusieurs amis, mais aussi quelques ennemis. La petite orpheline pourra-t-elle contrôler son caractère fort et demeurer à l écart des ennuis ?
